Temporarily relieve your blocked nose & sinuses/A more permanent relief from nasal congestion is to drag out those mucus/secretion. 

 

 

Here are some suggestions that can temporarily relieve your blocked nose & sinus congestion.

Do daily or regular exercise.   Exercise can cause an increase in blood circulation and can help to relieve nasal congestion.  Exercise can help you to relax & at the same time decrease your stress.

Here are some exercises you may love to do.

Walking

Running or jogging

Cycling

Swimming

Rowing

Dancing

Aerobics

Playing sports ………etc

Drink lots of fluids.   This will help to thin the mucus so that the mucus can flow much easily by gravity.  If you are on restricted fluids, you need to check this out with your doctor.

Have a hot shower.  The steam from the hot shower can moisten and thin the mucus/secretion.

Have a humidifier In your room (optional).  The humidifier can help to moisten and thin your mucus/secretion.

Clear your nose gently.   Keep the mouth slightly open when blowing your nose.                                                                                                                                                        Clear one nostril at a time.                                                                                                            This can help to prevent force of mucus/secretion further into   the surrounding sinuses, which can worsen the nasal congestion.  It can also prevent development of huge eye bags further down the track.

 

A more permanent relief from nasal congestion is to drag out those mucus/secretion.  This will depend on where your nasal congestion is.

Do these two steps prior you clear your nasal congestion each time.  On the music to enjoy while you do these techniques.

Step 1

First you need to promote increase flow of your mucus/secretion.

Extend the neck backward and tilt the chin upward.

Use the smooth back of a toothbrush to glide over the tongue.

Start from the back of the tongue to its front, gliding forward and backward, then from side to side several times.

Step 2

Warm up your body.  If you wish, you can walk on the spot when you do these warming exercises.       Slide1

Breathe in deeply as you swing your hands sideway, and high up above your head.

Breathe out gently against any available mucus/secretion, as you swing your hands down back to its previous position.

Slide1Next, breathe in slowly as you swing your hands to the front and as far up as possible with face looking up at the ceiling.

Breathe out as you lower both hands to swing them towards the back of the body.

Bend the body from the waist forward and downward with face looking towards the floor, when swinging hands to the back.

Attempt to drag and to move available mucus or secretions felt during breathing in and out technique.

Do each technique several times in Step 2 till you feel available loose mucus or secretion.

By doing the above techniques, you may realise that you are able to drag down the mucus/secretion from the sinuses around your nose & cheek areas down to the throat.

Then, use a rolled up bath towel or travel pillow firmly against the chin, to assist to cough out available mucus or secretion into the toilet bowl.
